Gillian's Festive Family Photoshoot
The Christmas Reunion
Gillian had given birth to her second child earlier in the year and the family felt more complete than ever. Her first, a girl had started blossoming into this playful infant and Gillian wanted to treasure these moments forever. Christmas was around the corner and her parents were to visit over the weekend before the 25th for a family reunion of sorts. Gillian had decorated the Christmas tree, organised sumptuous food & drinks and planning for the family to open their presents. Simply put, she wanted to have a relaxed family Christmas celebration at home with dad jokes, lots of laughter and a bit of pampering for everyone.

Let's Have a Family Photoshoot
As a new parent, you're always juggling multiple hats and are always short on time. Two days before the weekend Gillian realised that given the effort she's put into organising the weekend for the whole family, it would be a good idea to have some photos of their time together: there would be some nice moments with the new baby, the dads, her naughty little one over some afternoon tea and desserts. Normally, trying to get a professional photographer two days before Christmas at a reasonable price would be a nightmare. And moreover, Gillian didn't want the typical posing of a photography studio.
Well, thankfully, there's Perfocal (yes, we're working on our humility)!
Once the booking was placed on our platform, we matched Gillian with a family portrait photographer within 20 minutes. Ligia, a London based portrait photographer has oodles of experience in taking stunning pictures of intimate family moments with babies and toddlers in an unobtrusive manner.
Gillian, Giggles and Grandparents
The photo session took place in the comfortable environment of Gillian's home in Beckenham. This helped the family to be at ease in front of the camera and bring out the best smiles and expressions. The photos are a testament to how fun this family photoshoot was! Grandparents playing with their grandkids is usually a fulfiling sight. Mommy's little girl was the star of the show, enjoying all the attention and another chance to express her sibling love towards the teeny-weeny newborn baby of the family. Also, Gillian wasn't too keen on having a traditional newborn photographer for her little one so this was perfect.
Lasting Memories from the Family Photoshoot
Gillian got more than 75 carefully edited candid photos from this hour-long shoot. She intends to enlarge and frame a few of the shots and thus had bought the large resolution JPEGs as well. For us at Perfocal, it is a heart-warming experience when we are able to delight a customer and Gillian's review of her family photoshoot was no different:
"Brilliant service and our photographer was fantastic - professional but friendly too and the family photos she took were fab…I will definitely use Perfocal again as real quality at very reasonable prices..."
We're sure Gillian and her family will cherish these christmas family reunion memories for a long time to come.
The Family Photoshoot Remixed
Back in the days, you'd go to a dedicated "photo studio" usually based somewhere in central London, pay £99 and get a traditional family photoshoot complete with backdrops, studio lights and very formal poses. Except, there were a couple of serious problems with this model of portrait photography. For one, you would walk out with no prints or digital files at the end and you would come back for a "viewing session" where you'd be coaxed and emotionally cajoled into paying hundreds for a few prints or digital images. So the £99 family photoshoot package, you'd realise, was only a carrot to then lure you into paying through your nose for your cherished keepsake. Two, your purchased prints and frames looked awfully similar to your neighbours' family portraits and their cousins' family photoshoot and so on. And worst of it all, there was no easy alternative. A not so nice photography experience and giving portrait photographers a bad rep.
Sounds nasty, doesn't it? Phew! Thankfully, not anymore. Now, as you can see from the photos, you can order a professional photographer on-demand to come to your home, someone who will capture some great photos and the best part: for £99, you get all the edited digital photos from your one-hour family photography along with an online gallery. So you can share, download, print, whatever you want! All on your fingertips.
